Max Kepler

Max began her journey into the world of Argentine tango in 1997 while living in Los Angeles, where she was fortunate to study under several world-renowned masters of the craft. She began teaching tango in 2001 and was a principal instigator of the Queer Tango scene in San Diego in 2002, co-hosting San Diego's first weekly Women's practica. While living in Eugene, Oregon from 2005-2009, Max taught and danced equally often as a leader and as a follower and brought Argentine tango to LezDance, Eugene's long-established lesbian dance club.

With the help and support of Blaine Reed, Sara Thomsen, Katie Lake, and Ginger Daniels, Max founded Queer Seattle Tango in March of 2010 as a way of making Argentine tango accessible in her new home community. Max is well-respected by other tango dancers and teachers, both for her gentle and refined leading and her playful and versatile following, and in 2011 has been an invited guest instructor for Queer Tango events in Boston, San Francisco, and Seattle.

Max is available for private lessons. Her fee is $75/hour for one or two people. Discounted rates are available for new students and students signing up for several lessons in advance. Contact her at dancekepler@gmail.com (425-522-2481) for more information.
